Lucia Nhamo is a Zimbabwean visual artist selected to carry out research on the underground fashion markets in the UK for the Fashion Futures project.

Fashion Futures is a female-led multinational project curated by Chenesai Mukora-Mangoma, in partnership with British Council and Nataal Media, to foster creative engagement for change and to encourage collaboration by bringing together four content creators from varied artistic genres including fashion, beauty, visual art and anthropology.

Lucia’s work explores the idea of the ‘counter-monument’ as a material and conceptual strategy of alternative representation of citizenship and place, through video, printmaking, performance, and sculpture.

She represented Zimbabwe at the 10th Rencontres de Bamako, the biennial of African photography and video, and was awarded the Prix Spécial.
